Barrington Analysts Selected for Wall Street Journal’s
“Best on the Street”
Alexander P. Paris, CFA, the President and founder of Barrington Research and Alexander Paris, Jr., CFA, Director of Research, were selected from more than 4,000 research analysts at over 200 firms by First Call Corp., to be among the 239 analysts featured in The Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” 2003 Analysts Survey.
The criteria for selection focused on stock-picking skill for calendar 2002. These analysts have thoroughly studied their coverage companies, know their managers, understand their strategies, products and services—and provide careful advice on investments even in the face of difficult market conditions.
The awards for performance were given in forty nine different industries. Alexander P. Paris, Sr., ranked fourth in his coverage of the Diversified Industrial sector. This is the fourth time that he has been the recipient of The Wall Street Journal honors. Alexander Paris, Jr. ranked fifth for his coverage of the Consumer Services industry, his fourth consecutive win.
According to The Wall Street Journal, analysts were judged on consistent performance and credibility, qualities that are often lacking in the wide-range of free, unfiltered equity news and research information available to individual investors on the Internet. Analysts’ skill in stock picking was measured by using recommendation-performance scores. The scores were calculated on the basis of the estimated total return, including price changes and dividends, of each eligible stock covered in an industry.
